YESTERDAY I WILL TO BE LAUNCHED DURING YORK BOOK AND PAPER FAIR.
YORK, PAYesterday I Will, an anthology of original short stories, poems and one act plays, will be formally launched during the upcoming York Book and Paper Fair.
The anthology, which grew out of the writing contest sponsored by The York Emporium used book and curiosity shop in downtown York, is being published by Fortress Publishing, Inc. of Lemoyne, Pennsylvania.
The 226-page book contains 25 winning entries to the contest.
“We were really quite impressed with both the number and quality of the entries the contest received,” said Pam Lewin owner of the 19,000 sq. ft. book shop. “These are all original works built around the common title of “Yesterday I Will” and our authors took some rather interesting directions on that theme.”
Entries were received from both professional and amateur writers, Lewin said.
Professional writer Ty Drago, with six published books to his credit, took the title of “Grand Master” of the competition.
Independent judging was conducted by a panel of four experts consisting of publishers, writers and literature professors. Each entry was judged on the basis of its adherence to the theme, originality, readability and overall impression. Entrants’ names and personal information was hidden from the judges.
The contest was open to “all sentient species of the known universe”, according to the official rules.
Off-Earth Entrants were encouraged and were requested to submit photos with their entries. These were cautioned, however. that this was more for personal curiosity than anything else and probably won’t have any impact on the judging.
According to Lewin, no such photos were received.
A video of the initial reading of the contest rules was posted on YouTube and garnered more than 3,000 viewings.
The York Book and Paper Fair, now in its 25th year, will be held on Saturday April 4 in the York Expo Center (aka,”the York Fairgrounds”). It runs from 9 am to 4 pm and features dealers of rare and antiquarian books, postcards, ephemora, posters, records, comics and collectibles.
In addition to the launch of Yesterday I Will, book signings and an auction of rare books and autographs is scheduled. More information on the York Book and Paper Fair is available online at http://www.yorkbookandpaper.com
